Live Performance

Capturing live performance is a meditative experience – simultaneously appreciating the performance,

manipulating technical aspects of the camera, and creating unique compositions/moments. I thrive in

the volatile environment of changing emotions, space, and forms/shapes. There is a great deal of

positive stress and excitement documenting the essence of an inspiring performance.

Learning, playing and teaching the Sitar, since childhood, has helped me appreciate instruments,

musicians, and musical forms more. It is one of my favorite subjects to capture. The rich and

ancient practice of story telling comes alive in Theater for me. Small/Medium sized intimate

venues are my favorite to catch the connections between the actors to communicate the moments.

Dance is probably my favorite subject to document. Most people associate dance with "action",

but to me it incorporates music, theater, movement, shapes, and much more.  Capturing

the essence of a production makes me look though the eyes of the choreographer,

set designer, lighting designer, and dancers.

Enjoy the work of the institutions and artists who enrich our lives. A few images in each of

these galleries will be refreshed once a month. So please revisit sections.
